THE EYES LEAD IN TEMPTATION AND SIN

KEEPING THE EYES IN CHECK

Psalm 101:3 - I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Matthew 5:28 - But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Job 31:1 - I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Job 31:12 - For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.

Psalm 119:37 - Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.


THE TONGUE:  TO BE USED FOR EDIFICATION

Proverbs 15:28 - The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

THE TONGUE:  TO BE USED FOR GOSPEL WITNESS

Acts 8:35 - Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Acts 10:34 - Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.

Luke 21:14 - Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

Luke 21:15 - For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Matthew 10:20 - For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.


THE TONGUE:  TO BE USED FOR GODS PRAISE

Hebrews 13:15 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Psalm 69:30 - I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 69:31 - This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

Psalm 18:49 - Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

Psalm 63:3 - Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.


THE TONGUE:  IMMORAL SPEECH

Proverbs 4:24 - Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Exodus 20:7 - Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Proverbs 26:20 - Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

Colossians 3:9 - Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Job 27:4 - My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

THE TONGUE:  CAREFUL SPEECH

Proverbs 18:13 - He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Proverbs 29:20 - Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words?  There is more hope of a fool than of him.

Proverbs 17:27 - He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Proverbs 17:28 - Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Micah 7:5 - Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
