Prov-i-dence (prov'i-dens), noun. [Latin: providentia < providere.]
1. [capitalized] God Himself (eg: "Vigilant over all that He has made, Kind Providence attends with gracious aid": Cowper's Table Talk, 249).
2. The foreseeing care and guardianship of God over His creatures.
3. A manifestation of God's care or direction (eg: "There's a special providence in the fall of a sparrow": Shakespeare's Hamlet, v. 2. 231).
4. An occurrence or circumstance regarded as specially ordained by God (eg: "I sincerely gave thanks to God for opening my eyes, by whatever afflicting providences, to see the former condition of my life": Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, i. 8).

He that acknowledges a creation and denies a providence, involves himself in a palpable contradiction; for the same Power which caused a thing to exist is necessary to continue its existence. Some persons admit a general providence, but deny a particular providence, not considering that a general providence consists of particulars. A belief in divine providence, is a source of great consolation to good men.

Who Are We?
The members of Providence Independent Baptist Church are all sinners.  By His mercy, God, through His Word the Bible, has brought us to the realization of just how greatly our sin has offended Him, and that we are unable to bear the punishment it must bring.  We have therefore trusted in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation, Who Himself bore our sins on the cross at Calvary.  Through His shed blood we know we have redemption and forgiveness, with the promise of eternal life in glory with Him.

A Calling Out
As saved sinners, we have been consecrated unto Jesus Christ, and separated from any apostasy, denial of God's truth, or willful disobedience to the clear teaching of the Bible.

A Changed Life
By the aid of God's Holy Spirit, we now endeavor to walk in the light of our new life in Him, laying aside the sin which doth so easily beset us, and looking unto Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

An Assembly
We assemble ourselves together, according to the teaching of God's Word, that we should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called us out of darkness into His marvellous light.  And so we have come together as one body in Christ, united for worship, teaching, admonition, fellowship, and the spread of the Gospel message throughout our community, even unto the uttermost part of the earth.
